  1. What a fantastic song!!What a melody!! What a great literature with the lightest possible words taking off our hearts like the cotton balls in the air !! What a range of voice of Ghantasala!! What a superb music!!.. all combined as if only to bless the Telugu music lover & to diffuse all the accumulated rust of his/her ears actuated by the drumming noise of the present day cine music. The song goes to confirm once again that “old is gold”.
Pingali’s songs authored for the films of that golden era need no introduction. A thesis on each of them can be easily written if one has time & tenacity. Such were his great lyrics of which this could only be a tip of the iceberg. Coming to the greatness of the song……
It is said that the eyes are the mirror to the feelings at heart. One’s feelings of heart are told by eyes.. this is more so in case of love.
Saroja expresses her love for Raja silently. When he pretends head ache, she applies “Amrithaanjan” Raja observes her feelings & confirms that they are in his favour. Pingali depicts the love very subtly in this scene.
Raja says that he had heard the flute song of the heart and seen her love in the eyes. Not only that,he also had the audience of her love in the movements of her tender lips & ding dong silly smiles. Raja goes to exaggeratedly say that his heart floated in the stream of nectar as if her gentle moving lips rained honey. Since she sees her with smile, he feels that she is loving him. With anguish when she throws off her “Jada”( braid/plait i.e. vertically intertwisted hair),he takes it as a captivating rope of love.
Pingali gave this song with all subtle romance embedded in it. He used beautiful phrases like –“thelupaka thelipe”, “kadali kadalani” besides beautiful rhymes. It is great highlight that the entire song has continued with the syllable “Le” throughout.
Ghantasala rendered the song in “Mohanaraga” very melodiously .It is great that his “Akaara” Aalaapana was in two different ways in the two stanzas of the song. His rendition heard in the admixture of rhythm on “Dolak” & on Veena & flute really float the listeners in the stream of nectar (Amrithavahini).
Actions of both-ANR & Jamuna are wonderful.

  2. As my thoughts over run the speed of writing,a the following mistakes have crept in my above post.Friends will kindly excuse me for this:
In sentence 3 of para 4,the phrase "song of the heart" ,may please be read as "the song of her heart.

In the penultimate sentence of the last para the phrase "float the listeners" may please be read as "makes the listeners float"
